NEGOTIATING A PAYRISE AS A WOMAN IN hR

A FREE SERIES OF SIX  EXPERT SPEAKERS DESIGNED TO RECONNECT YOU TO YOUR WORTH AND RECEIVE THE SALARY YOU DESERVE!

Brought to you by The HR Club: The Career Development Network for Women in HR

Let's face it, when you work in HR you get to see first hand the somewhat...erratic way in which pay rises are sometimes awarded within our organisations. We might notice how some departments *coughsales* (oh yes, I went there!) appear to have an abundance of resources while others have to fight for every penny. As a 'support' function, that is often us.

This constant need to 'prove' our value to the bottom line and the fact that we're not an income generator can get in the way of us even asking for the salary we deserve - and when we do pluck up the courage, it can be hard to know where to start. Coupled with the very real barriers that still exist when it's a woman asking for a payrise (you know, like how women are less likely to have successfully asked for a pay rise compared to men*) and well, you can understand why it might feel like a battle not worth having.

Here at The HR Club we believe so strongly that no woman in HR should ever feel alone, and what better way to combat this than connecting you with people who have walked a path before you. Sign up to this FREE series and get access to the wisdom of six incredible women - all with experience of working in HR - to help you secure the salary you deserve.

Say hello to our amazing speakers!

CEO and Founder of Storm Collaborative, Sophie Hodgson entered the world of 'People' in one of the world's largest corporate organisations, and had a sky rocketing career where she made her way from HR graduate to Head of HR in 3.5 years - a position she then held in different forms for a few years of experience across various international landscapes.

Making some big career leaps and gaining lots of invaluable experience, she contemplated the world beyond and made her move into being a business owner and consultant channelling her skills to work in partnership with much smaller, dynamic, rapidly growing businesses.

When it comes to owning your career and getting what you deserve, Sophie likes to live by the ethos of, 'know your worth...and then add tax'.

Dominique Saxelby, Head of HR & Organisational Development at ECL, is a single mother of two young children and has led HR teams in small VC backed startups and large, complex Companies across various industries including Health  and Social Care, Tech and Hospitality.

Dominique has fast tracked her career from HR coordinator to Head of HR in under 10 years, and has a special interest in supporting other women in HR to realise their potential and achieve their career goals. She has been applying this in her current role by mentoring her team members to achieve internal promotions, and will be sharing her experiences of coaching them to submit pay rise requests - techniques she has also applied personally.

She is CIPD Level 7, Prince2 Project Management qualified and currently studying a Masters Law degree part time.

Su Patel started her career in 1988 with one of the biggest retailers in the UK. She became an influencer in the HR space and published her book “Putting The Human Back Into HR”, an Amazon bestseller, in 2019 to empower other HR professionals to build a credible brand. After twenty-seven successful years in corporate HR, she chose to embark on her entrepreneurial journey.

Her coaching and mentoring programmes help professionals build their confidence, command their self-worth and create abundance in their lives. She has spoken on stages for the BBC, American Express and The Maldives Association For HR Professionals.

Su will be explaining what an abundance mindset is, how it can help you secure the salary you really deserve, and daily steps to embed it in your life.

For over 20 years, Sarae Pratt has specialised in helping people develop and achieve their goals. She has worked in-house as part of HR teams and as an external consultant to provide global learning and talent programmes for middle and senior managers in a range of professional services, educational institutes, not-for-profits and government bodies.

Today, Sarae works with a mix of corporates and private clients and is passionate about women leaders. Having worked in masculine environments Sarae learnt that to fit in, she had to work in masculine ways, which isn't sustainable in the long term - something which multiple burnouts, depression and  life threatening surgery eventually taught her.

Sarae's vision is that every woman has joy in her life because she shows up as her whole self all of the time.  She is a confessed learning geek – always on the lookout for the next book, expert or training opportunity. She has trained with Oxford School of Coaching & Mentoring, Animas Centre for Coaching and One of many®, for whom, Sarae is a Certified Coach and Trainer. Sarae has achieved Professional Certified Coach status with the ICF and is an ICF Trauma informed Coach with the Self-Belief Coaching Academy.

Rosalynn Alessi, current Director of HR, and champion for advancing the HR profession; has had a fast-paced career with experience as a solo HR practitioner as well as leading HR teams in both small and medium sized organizations.

Rosalynn has a passion for self-advocacy in the workplace. She works to actively encourage HR professionals, and women in particular, to understand how their natural strengths and contributions bring value to their organisations. She hopes to encourage and ignite the confidence in others to advocate for themselves when it comes to fair recognition and compensation.

Rosalynn has some formal and professional credentials including her MBA, CPHR and SHRM-CP, and periodically teaches HR courses in the University of New Brunswick BBA program.

Katie Wery, Chief People Officer at Medigold Health, has a career in HR spanning 20 years and several industries from charities to financial services. Katie loves working in HR and has enjoyed the varied experiences she's had.

She strongly believes that we can all advocate for ourselves and do our best whatever the circumstances, and her wish is for us all to know our worth and have confidence in our abilities.

How it's going to work?

It doesn't get much easier than this.

All you've got to do is sign up, and wait!

From Monday 3 October to Monday 10 October, every weekday morning one of our fabulous speakers will wing their way to your inbox ready for you to watch at your leisure. There and then, over your lunch or chilling in the bath - the choice is yours!

You'll also receive reflective questions, practices and affirmations over the course of the series to help you realise, acknowledge and accept the sheer brilliance you bring to your work, because you do! Even if it can't be squished into some calculation for the bottom line, or can it?

Are you ready to secure what you're really worth?

Because you ARE worth it, you know. There's no such thing as 'just' HR. There's no such thing as other people's work being more 'valuable' than yours. You're allowed to want the same for yourself as you do for other people.
